Calor supports care home workers with donation

Calor helps care home
Here at Calor, we pride ourselves on getting involved with the local communities in which we operate and our ‘Start from the Heart’ programme gives each of us the chance to spend a day volunteering to help out local causes.

Since lockdown and social distancing began, we’ve been unable to physically go out and volunteer our time to help local community groups, but that hasn’t stopped us from helping out some of these causes in other ways instead.

An example of one of the many ‘Start from the Heart’ causes is creating beautiful outdoor space for the residents of Bryntirion Residential Home in Wales. The team at the local Calor Customer Centre has cleared shrubs and maintained the good looks of the residential garden for the past few years. So, when we heard that the hardworking staff at this care and the nearby Min Y Mor Residential Home were in need of help, we jumped at the chance to assist them.
We donated reusable water bottles so that each member of staff could have one to help them stay hydrated whilst in full PPE gear. This also meant staff didn’t need to share any cups or bottles, allowing the care homes to continue with their stringent hygiene efforts aimed at reducing the spread of coronavirus.

A spokesperson for Ceredigion County Council, said: “Keeping hydrated is a challenge when we are now in full PPE for the majority of our shifts and having our own water bottles will enable all of us to access water frequently and stay healthy. We cannot thank you enough for coming to our assistance when it is most needed.''
